The Nissan Qashqai (pronounced Kash-key) available in the U.K. and also in Japan and Australia, where it's known as the Nissan Dualis, has just hit a very big milestone. The one-millionth model, a silver 2.0-liter diesel TEKNA, has just rolled off the production line at the Nissan Sunderland plant.

Given how wildly popular this Nissan crossover is abroad, it's amazing that we hear little of it on our side of the pond. With hopes that one day it might just reach our shores, we thought we'd tell you a little bit about it.

Nissan has teaming up with Cummins, a major manufacturer of diesel engines in the U.S. to bring a leading-edge fuel-efficient technology to the half-ton pickup truck market. Specifically, the dynamic duo, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is working to develop a ground-breaking 220-horsepower (hp), turbocharged 2.8-liter inline-four-cylinder diesel engine.
